Notaro Team by Luca Domenici is the new Italian Champion, Rowdy’s Americans win the circuit and the Lerici stage

Lerici, 20 October 2024 – An exciting season finale in Lerici for the J/70 Cup: sun, a steady wind between 11 and 14 knots and flat seas allowed the last three races of the year to take place, outlining the balance of the stage and season standings.

After four events and 26 completed races, the winner of the circuit organized by J/70 Italian Class is Rowdy by Richard Witzel: the American crew, with Carlos Robles, Moritz Spitzauer and Tomas Dietrich on board, always on the podium in all the events of the J/70 Cup 2024, won the circuit with a margin of 44 points over the second-placed team, Notaro Team by Luca Domenici. Seasonal bronze medal for Alessandro Molla and Tommaso Pavan with Viva, followed by White Hawk by Gianfranco Noè and Wanderlust by Sofia Giondi, respectively first and second in the Corinthian division. Third step of the Corinthian podium of the season for Why Not #CAIM by Massimo Rama, who triumphed in the non-professional classification in Lerici.

Among the special prizes, Bulla – Yacht Club Italiano and Ciclone by Yann Inghilesi won respectively in the Young and One Pro classifications of the stage and circuit.

The Lerici event, in which, as already written, the Americans of Rowdy prevailed, was also valid as the Italian Absolute Championship: the title, assigned by FIV regulation to the best entirely Italian crew, was won by Luca Domenici with Notaro Team, for years among the great protagonists of the J/70 Cup.

“We are very happy, winning the Italian title after having already won the circuit in 2023, the European Championship and the bronze at the World Championship, is yet another satisfaction in this class that has given us so many emotions and last years. We have shown that we are at the top again this year and for this I thank my family and my sponsors who have accompanied us over the seasons. Thanks also to the crew that has always had plenty of grit to transmit to me, in a process of continuous growth – declared Luca Domenici at the end of the regattas. “The J/70 Class remains unique at a national level, there are no other categories capable of attracting so many crews of such a high level: an experience that I recommend to everyone”.

Third place overall, but silver in the Italian Championship, for J-Curve by Mauro Roversi; the Italian bronze instead went to Yacht Club Rimini by Francesco Farneti.

The Italian Corinthian podium is composed of: Why Not #CAIM, gold, Wanderlust by Sofia Giondi, silver, and White Hawk by Gianfranco Noè, bronze.
