J/70 Eurocup – The wind farm gets ready for the final act of J/70 Alcatel Onetouch Italian Trophy
Ever since the J/70 made its European debut at the 2013 Eurocup – held on gorgeous Lake Garda in Italy – the event has become increasingly popular not only with the Local fleet, but also with a growing number of boats from all around the Old Continent.
The 2015 edition will take place from 10th to 12th September at Fraglia Vela Riva that was the first Italian yacht club to believe in the new J sportboat right from the beginning, introducing the J/70s international event on its calendar over the past two years (forecasting that J/70s would have become also in Europe the one-design sportboat of the current millennium).
Now Lake Garda gets ready for the third edition of the J/70s international regatta that, at a certain extent, allows some comparison to the US Key West Race – whose the Eurocup aims to become the European version for the ‘baby J’.
Indeed, following the success of the last Garda’s J/70 continental championship, this year alongside with the top Italian teams many entries are expected with a bunch top Olympic & World Champion sailors participating from the Principalty of Monaco, France, Germany, Sweden and Norway to challenge for the overall spot of the event that marks the final act of the circuit J/70 Alcatel Onetouch Italian Trophy.
More to the point, it should be mentioned that the Eurocup 2015, following the first ever J/70 World Championsh held in Europe will also serve up a useful training in views of the Montecarlo’s European Championship (Yacht Club de Monaco, October 12th to 17th ).
